With over 10 years of experience working in administrative assistant and customer service positions, Betties is lucky to have her. Grace is diplomatic, personable, motivated, and great at managing sensitive situations.
Grace’s favorite thing about working for Betties is having a supportive company that realizes that the entire team is an asset. Even though the Betties work remotely, we are one big, happy, virtual family!
Born in Buffalo, New York, Grace has been living in the beautiful city of Orlando, Florida for most of her life. She also recently married during the pandemic! (Congratulations!)
In her free time, Grace enjoys creating her own seasoning, rubs, and recipes. She loves to act like she is on an episode of “Chopped” creating random meals. You’ll find her shopping for new kitchen and cooking gadgets and watching chefs cook to come up with ideas.

My highlight from last month was guest lecturing at Texas A&M University for the Agriculture department’s Management & Entrepreneurial Studies course!
There were 3 key things that I wanted the students to walk away with, but number one was that making an investment in their mental health should be a priority. A great leader must be mentally steady, vulnerable, and understanding of the psychology of people. A healthy mind isn’t just feel-good mumbo-jumbo. Understanding ourselves and others will make for better salespeople, teammates, and leaders. Plus the added bonus of a happier life!
One student asked me how I balance my ADHD and stay engaged with work when we (ADHDers) get bored so easily. My answer? I quit! I quit the phone, the TV, and even people. I step away anywhere from a few hours to an overnight stay at a hotel. I listen to music, meditate, and get into nature. This is when my brain gets to activate its superpower. Creativity is at its highest during these times which allows me to set the vision and create new ideas. When I return to work, I’m engaged and excited to see what’s next at Betties!

Cook the tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water.
Add tortellini to a large bowl. Add caesar dressing to the pasta and toss to coat. Add tomatoes, olives, green onion, basil pesto, salt and pepper, and garlic powder and toss to combine. Add sunflower seeds and ⅓ cup fresh parmesan cheese and toss to combine.
Serve warm or cold. Store in the fridge. If it seems to dry after sitting in the fridge (the pasta can absorb a lot of moisture) you can add another spoonful of caesar dressing and/or pesto. Garnish with the remaining parmesan and fresh chopped basil before serving.

The Evernote app allows you to use your phone’s camera to scan documents wherever you are. But your documents won’t be stuck on your phone. Evernote works on iPhone, Windows, Android, Mac, Linux… wherever you’re working.

So you think you’re an expert multitasker. You’re busy and always handling multiple things at once. Impressive! Or is it? If you’re not familiar with the task-switching phenomenon, listen up.
Multitasking vs Task-Switching
You multitask every day. There’s a good chance you’re multitasking right now! You’ve held a phone conversation while driving, and listened to an audiobook while cooking. Those are great examples of multitasking.
Multitasking involves doing more than one thing at once, as long as only one (or none!) is something that takes specific effort or focus. Keep this in mind when you hear all of the praise that multitasking receives.
Task-switching, however, is a wolf in multitasking’s clothing!
Physical tasks like opening an app, wrapping up work to put on hold, or getting distracted with other things tacks on time between each task.
Do you think you have the willpower to stay on track?
Switching tasks takes 16 seconds on average, and people switch tasks 12 times on average every half hour! That right there is 10% of your time… out the window.
There are mental aspects to task switching as well. Your brain takes time to switch gears moving from one set of rules to another. You are not immediately focused when you sit down to go over a document or fill out paperwork! It takes time to get into that productive state. Repeating this process over and over is so time-consuming that even short mental blocks can cost as much as 40% of someone’s productive time!
Separate, Delegate, and Focus!
Take the time to separate your tasks into easily manageable groups. Delegate your interruptions to staff members (like phone calls, emails, and other administrative work). Finally, focus. Get everything you’ll need in front of you to prevent more interruptions that will lead to distractions, and get to work!
